POSITION: SALARY: $28,538.51 GRADE: 63APPLY BY: OPEN UNTIL FILLED POSITION # 187-02-213 WILL CONSIDER WORK-AGAINST FOR IMC-II FUNDING AVAILABLE THRU 09-30-2009 or until funds exhausted PRIMARY PURPOSE OF ORGANIZATIONAL UNIT: The primary purpose of the Family Financial Support-Food Assistance-Intake and Case Management Unit is to provide qualifying individuals/families with an avenue for applying for Food Nutrition Services. PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: This position is an Income Maintenance Caseworker II (IMC-II) and this worker will serve as an Intake/Case Management worker in the Family Financial Support Food Assistance Unit. This worker will receive and process applications and determine the applicant’s initial eligibility for the Food Nutrition Services Program. This IMC-II will be responsible for completing face-to-face interviews for the program mentioned above. This position explains program requirements and options,explains applicant’s rights and responsibilities, verifies required information, refers applicants to other program services as appropriate and processes all applications received. Work is performed according to State, Federal and County policy and procedures. KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS and ABILITIES: IMC-I- Good mathematical reasoning and computation skills. Ability to communicate with clients, applicants and the public to obtain data, and to explain and interpret rules, policies and procedures. Ability to understand the needs and problems of clients/applicants. Ability to learn the program area of assignment and all agency programs and services which could affect the client/applicant. Graduation from an accredited associate degree program in Human Services Technology, Social Services Associate, Paralegal Technology, Business Administration, Secretarial Science or a closely related curriculum; OR Graduation from high school and two years of paraprofessional, clerical, or other public contact experience which included negotiating, interviewing, explaining information, gathering and compiling of data, analysis of data and/or performance of mathematical or legal tasks with at least one year of such experience being in an Income Maintenance program; OR Graduation from high school and three years of paraprofessional, clerical or other public contact experience which included negotiating, interviewing, explaining information, the gathering and compiling of data, the analysis of data and/or the performance of mathematical or legal tasks; OR an equivalent combination of training and experience. MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: One year of experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Will consider Work against for position. Work against salary for IMC-I is $26,132.66-Pay Grade 61. Position requires one year of eligibility experience to fully qualify at the IMC-II level. TRAINING/EXPERIENCE: Experience with Windows and Excel preferred. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Must have NC Driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
