How & Where Do I Recycle?
Haywood County accepts recycled goods at our 10 convenience centers throughout the county, as well as the Materials Recovery Facility in Clyde. The convenience centers are staffed with Haywood County employees from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday except for two locations, Cruso and Fines Creek ,which only operate Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday 7-5. Residential solid waste is accepted at each center in compactors.
Best practices for handling recycling depend on where you live. If you live in the county, all recyclable materials may be placed in blue compactors located at each convenience center. If you live within the limits of one of Haywood County's municipalities, please contact them directly about recycling practices. To access the web sites for each municiple government, visit the Our Community section of our web site. For more tips on how to prepare recyclables, click here.
Recyclables are hauled from the centers to our Materials Recovery Facility. Haywood County Solid Waste employees separate the materials from the blue bags and places each material into different bins. The materials are baled and Haywood County Solid Waste Management markets the materials.
