HAYWOOD COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

December 18, 2017

The Board will meet in the HAYWOOD COUNTY COURTROOM

of the HISTORIC COURTHOUSE at 215 N. Main Street, Waynesville

beginning at 5:30 pm.

Citizens must sign up for public comment prior to 5:20 p.m. and are limited

to three (3) minutes.  Audience members may not address the Board at any time

during deliberations unless recognized by the Chairman.

                  3.  Request approval and acceptance of a grant award from the U.S. Department of Justice Office of

                       Community Oriented Policing Services to provide salaries and benefits partially funding four

                       deputy sheriffs for a total of three years – Chief Deputy Jeff Haynes – ATTACHMENT 10

 

                  4.  Request approval to purchase a new Detention Center transportation van from Waynesville

                       Chrysler Dodge as the lowest, responsible, responsive vendor in the amount of $43,057.65 to

                       be paid from budgeted funds – Chief Deputy Jeff Haynes – ATTACHMENT 11

 

                  5.  Request approval of Memorandum of Understanding with Haywood Advancement Foundation

                       in the amount of $200,000 for costs associated with the stockpiling of soil at the Jonathan

                       Creek soil reclamation project – Program Administrator David Francis – ATTACHMENT 12

 

                  6.  Request approval of contract with BLE to test and inspect soil at the Jonathan Creek soil

                       reclamation project in the amount of $14,799 to be paid from capital project funds  –

                  7.  Request approval of contract with Avcon USA, LLC as the most responsible, responsive bidder

                       for the spreading and compaction of soil to the specifications as outlined in the bidding

                       documents dated November 30, 2017 and the Memorandum of Understanding dated December

                       13th, 2017 for the Jonathan Creek soil reclamation project in the amount of $167,802.75 to be

                       paid from capital project funds – Program Administrator David Francis – ATTACHMENT 14

 

                  8.  Request approval of Capital Project Ordinance – $257,174 – to grade and prepare the Jonathan

                       Creek property to be used for economic development purposes - Julie Davis, Finance Director –
