Haywood County Stroke Support Group: Survivors and Caregivers

Tuesday, May 16, 11:00am.  Haywood County Health and Human Services Agency


Stroke is the #1 cause of disability and the #5 cause of death in the U.S.


In recognition of Stroke Awareness Month upcoming in May, Haywood Regional Medical Center and Haywood County Health and Human Services are joining to form a Stroke Support Group for survivors and caregivers. The goal of the support group is to share information and community resources about Stroke recovery. Speakers will cover topics such as Nutrition for Stroke survivors, Anti-coagulation Therapy, Physical Therapy, Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Elder Law, Medicaid/Medicare benefits, Stroke Survivors stories and much more.


The meetings will be held every third Tuesday of the month at 11:00am at the Haywood County Health and Human Services Building Room 301, 157 Paragon Parkway in Clyde.  Light refreshments will be served.


Speakers at our initial meeting will be stroke survivor Haywood County Public Health Services Director Patrick Johnson and Lauren Teague, HRMC Registered Dietician, a board-certified sports dietician who will present nutrition for the stroke survivor.


Stroke survivors and caregivers welcome.


Upcoming Meetings are scheduled for: May 16, June 20, and July 18.
