                                    The Board will meet in the HAYWOOD COUNTY COURTROOM

                                 of the HISTORIC COURTHOUSE at 215 N. Main Street, Waynesville

                                                                                beginning at 9:00 a.m.

                         Citizens must sign up for public comment prior to 8:50 a.m. and are limited

                        to three (3) minutes. Audience members may not address the Board at any time

                                            during deliberations unless recognized by the Chairman.

                       1. Request approval of January 17, 2017 regular meeting minutes

 

                       2. Request approval of budget amendment – Julie Davis, Finance Director

                           Public Safety – Detention - $34,000 - additional costs for housing inmates in other counties

                           as well as increased juvenile inmate housing costs, to come from contingency in the General

                           Fund – ATTACHMENT 2

 

              VIII.  Old Business

                        1. Request approval to enter into negotiation with the Town of Waynesville for acquisition of

                            the property at 10 Calvary Street for purposes of constructing a park - Ira Dove, County Manager

                            – ATTACHMENT 3

 

                        2. Request approval of the contract with Cooper Construction for construction of the new Mauney

                            Cove Convenience Center in the amount of $574,016; Bunnell Lammons Engineering for

                            materials testing and quantity assurance analysis in the amount of $9,375; and $30,000 to cover

                            costs of construction and repair of the temporary site at Elmwood Way - to be paid for from

                            Solid Waste Fund Balance – David Francis, Solid Waste, Tax Administrator – ATTACHMENT 4

 

                        3. Request approval of budget amendment – Julie Davis, Finance Director

                            Solid Waste – Convenience Center - $613,391 - to cover costs for construction and engineering

                            of the new Mauney Cove Convenience Center, and to cover costs for preparation of a temporary

                            site - to be paid from Solid Waste Fund Balance – ATTACHMENT 5

 

                IX.  New Business 

                       1. Request approval of the Haywood County Tourism Development (HCTDA) Authority Product

                           Development Fund Policy and Process Guidelines and support the introduction of legislation

                           in support of an additional two percent (2%) Occupancy Tax for the purpose of establishing a

                           Tourism Product Development Fund – Lynn Collins, Executive Director HCTDA –

                           ATTACHMENT 6

 

                       2. Request approval of occupancy tax penalty waiver request for Ramada Ltd. in the amount of

                           $554.69 and the Best Western Mountainbrook Inn in the amount of $613.36 – Lynn Collins,

                           Executive Director HCTDA – ATTACHMENT 7

 

                       3. Update on the Animal Services building and request approval of selection of exterior colors –

                           Ira Dove, County Manager; Randy Cunningham, Mountain Design Architects –

                       4. Request approval of Health & Human Services Agency (HHSA) board member, Martha Teater,

                           to serve as a contract trainer for HHSA staff to be paid from HHSA budget - Stoney Blevins,
